It also includes principles of fire and explosion, causes and prevention of fires, fire protection in buildings and ensuring the safety of people in the event of fire. The courses aim is to provide delegates with an appropriate breadth of underpinning knowledge for non-specialists in fire safety.
The qualification is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:
- Unit NGC1: Management of Health and Safety-Assessed by a 2 hour written exam
- Unit FC1: Fire and Safety and Risk Management – Assessed by a 2 hour written exam
- Unit FC2: Fire Safety Practical Application - Assessed by a 2 hour work based practical assessment
This qualification equips holders to carry out fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required.
