Our role included production of the employer’s requirements and contract documents, appointment of sub-consultants, management and coordination of the design team, validation of the contractors design proposal (in agreement with our chartered structural and fire engineers), agreement of the contract sum (via our independent Quantity Surveyors), administration of the BSF application on behalf of our client, obtaining planning and building regulation approvals, management of health and safety / CDM requirement (principal designer role), contract administration of the works, agreement of quality control procedures, site sign off and handover procedures, included the issue of an EWS1 form on completion of the remediation works.

Planning Permission was achieved via a full plans planning application submission and Building Regulation approval via an external Approved Inspector. The project was given BSF funding eligibility and is due to start on site in January 2022 and be complete by March 2023.

The project was subject to a Building Safety Fund application and presented several technical challenges to firstly establish eligibility for BSF funding and then to formulate an appropriate design solution given the presence of large concrete panels to the external walls that had to remain in place as part of the remediation solution.
