The original school had been 1FE and the additional FE had been provided through temporary modular buildings. The scope included the removal of all the temporary accommodation and provision of permanent traditionally built structures fully integrated into the existing permanent accommodation. Phase 1 provided a Reception and Year 1 wing to allow existing accommodation to be decanted for Phase 2.

The project was logistically complicated as the school had to remain fully functional through the construction phases.

John Wilkinson, Associate Architect at Capital fulfilled the role of Project Architect up to Stage D and then assumed an overview role supporting the Project Architect following an internal promotion to Principal Architect.

Firs Farm staff worked with John Wilkinson as the architect for our new school build. John was creative, experienced & knowledgeable, always listening to new suggestions. John was able to adapt the plans as the building process progressed. We have been left with a beautiful building full of light & space that everyone in the school feels proud to use.
