Capital was commissioned by Orbit housing to produce EWS1 forms to several blocks within their housing portfolio.
Capital acted as CDM Coordinators, Project Managers and Surveyors for the various schemes and were responsible for managing the building contractors and investigation works. Capital ensured that relevant CDM processes, resident liaison and logistics were undertaken in a professional and timely fashion, working closely with Orbit’s housing, Asset and Fire Compliance teams.
From the initial review of the available Operations and Maintenance documents, through planning and statutory submissions to the compilation of the final reports; Capital worked with the Fire Engineers to ensure that relevant investigations were undertaken to provide information pertinent to the buildings.

The schemes were all blocks with a variety of varying external wall systems coupled together over various elevations. Owing to the geographical positioning of the blocks in relation to highways, public thoroughfares and entry points; Health and Safety was a key element which coupled closely with the logistics for the works.
Capital not only worked closely with our Partner Fire Engineers, but also ensured that the builders works, and access was undertaken by knowledgeable contractors in external wall systems.
The investigations took place over several months in the latter months of 2020; therefore, in addition to ensuring that the envelope was adequately protected from inclement weather, Capital ensured that government guidelines were adhered to in regard to COVID working.
