Capital PCC were commissioned by The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to undertake investigatory works to external timber cladding within the dual height balconies to the front elevation of the iconic West London landmark, Trellick Tower A.
The building had two wall types, only one of which was the subject of an intrusive investigation for the purposes of undertaking and PAS9980 Fire Risk Assessment of the External Wall (FRAEW) and the production of an EWS1.
The primary building material of the external walls is reinforced mass concrete, the secondary material which was the subject of this investigation is the timber cladding present within the balcony areas to the front elevation and more specifically the dual height balconies.
Access for the investigation was by resident agreement which was limited to a single dwelling of the target type.

Our team risk-assessed the working environment & was quickly able to establish a safe method of work on the 23rd floor balcony, in order to undertake the required investigations to inform the Chartered Fire Engineer.
Capital PCC produce a professional investigations report by the head of the team who is member of both the Chartered Institute of Building & The Institute of Fire Engineers which is then provided to the client and the Chartered Fire Engineer to enable the production of the PAS9980 FRAEW report & EWS1 form.
